
Bio
Layla Bucaretchi is a Brazilian performer and choreographer. She holds a BA in Dance from UNICAMP (Brazil), and specialization degree in choreographic studies at PEPCC, Forum Dança, in Lisbon.
She had the opportunity to meet artists - such as Marlene Monteiro Freitas, Vera Mantero, Lia Rodrigues, Jennifer Lacey, Sofia Dias, Patricia Portela, Loic Touzé, Ben Wright among others - collaborated in pieces like: “For the sky not to fall”,Lia Rodrigues Cia de Dança (RJ/BR), and “The lost thing” from Candoco dance company(LON/UK) and Royal Opera House.
Layla has been the recipient of Brazilian award for dance like PROAC first works in Dance for Younger Choreographers, in 2017.
In the last few years she created work solo such as:”Bang” ( 2014) and “Crossings”( 2016). Among her works there are also "DELLAS17" (2018) and "Brega Returns" (2019) in partnership with the artist Daniela Moraes. Also established partnerships with artists from different media, elaborates two videos in consequence of this research: Bamboo- Studies for the light (2016) and Fake Sky (2017/2018 - shares the direction with Daniela Moraes and Felipe Bomfim.
Layla is part of Platform Movente, a space of exchange with several artists from different areas.
As performer, she worked with several international choreographers like Lia Rodrigues, Ben Wright, Grupo Vão, Tamara Cubas, Pedro Ramos and others.
She is also assistant director for the movie-piece “The man without a name” by Ricardo Gali e Fábio Furtado, who received the Proac 2019 grant of dance show, debuting in 2020.
She is a member of Cia Perversos Polimorfos, as an interpreter and creator, she participated in the works 'Pós Sacre', 'Like-me' and “Atreve-te”, she was assistant director of the film “O homem sem um nome” and assistant producer of the Festival Perverse Trials.
Layla has performed in venues like: Teatro Viriato (PT); Teatro Aveirense (PT); Teatro Meridional (PT); Teatro Rua das Gaivotas (PT), Casa da América Latina (PT), (Re)Union Biannual Performing Arts Meeting, Museum of Image and Sound - MIS( BR); Bienal SESC de Dança (BR),Festival Contemporâneo de Dança(BR).
